Audition Information Who: Serious dance students age 9–adult who have trained in ballet, modern and/or contemporary dance When: June 8, 2024
Cost: There is NO fee to audition! Dress Code: Formfitting dancewear (skirts optional), bring ballet shoes if you own them. Deadline: Register by June 6 at 11:59 pm ET *Video auditions will be accepted for students unable to attend the in-person audition on June 8th. Except for emergencies and approved absences, dancers are expected to be at all rehearsals for their assigned roles and all performances. Please note, the following schedule is subject to change.

About the Experience
Selected dancers will have the opportunity to:
- experience a professional production from within as a participant performing in Ballet Bloom Project’s three-show run of The Little Mermaid at The Hill Arts August 9–10, 2024. Level I dancers will perform 1–2 small roles. Level II dancers will perform 2+ small roles.
- rehearse and perform alongside professional dancers
- train and rehearse under the direction of Bloom’s artistic director Rose Hutchins and guest teachers. Training includes:
- ballet technique classes and warm-ups
- education in corps work (i.e., dancing as a unified ensemble)
- coaching in artistry, acting for ballet, and stage presence
- Practical education in subjects such as stage makeup, performance hairstyling, set/prop construction, costuming, theater etiquette, and backstage operations
Schedule
Except for emergencies and approved absences, dancers are expected to be at all rehearsals for their assigned roles and all performances. Please note, the following schedule is subject to change.
- Rehearsals will take place each Saturday from June 22–August 3. (Times vary by role and production needs.) Most rehearsals will take place in Saco, Maine. Some may be held in Portland, Maine.
- Stage rehearsals will be at The Hill Arts (Portland, ME) between 3 pm and 9 pm Monday, August 5–Thursday, August 8.
- Performances will be at The Hill Arts (Portland, ME) on Friday, August 9, at 7 pm and Saturday, August 10, at 2 pm and 7 pm.
